Piano repairer in India

"Piano care and maintenance is a delicate activity and calls for specialists who are exclusively trained for this purpose. More so, when it comes to repair and maintenance of pianos in India. This is because pianos are not manufactured in India and hence, there are no original equipment manufacturers in this country.
Pianos were in fashion for the rich and famous quite some time back - when they were being imported from abroad and placed in the lavish drawing rooms. Almost all old Bollywood movies had a piano driven song in the course of the film. Those were the times when pianos were in some demand and that led to growth and availability of people trained to repair pianos in India. Things however changed with the marriage of electronics with acoustics. Keyboards started to gain prominence - they were cheaper, many times portable and availability was never a concern.

The musical fraternity as well budding musicians took to keyboards as ducks take to water. That made things worse for the grand piano. And consequently, for piano repairer inIndia.

The number of pianos dwindled in this country; as people found it difficult to maintain those grand machines. And as demands shrunk, supply side too witnessed the shrinkage. Number of people trained to maintain pianos reduced drastically.

First, the technology was just not there. And second, there was lack of adequate business to pursue piano repairer inIndia as a profession. These two factors, coupled with the fact that the market was swept away with electronic keyboards, resulted in piano repair being an extremely difficult proposition in the country today. Some vendors will perhaps claim that they repair pianos; however it is hard to believe that the desired expertise is available. People today conduct piano repairs more out of familiarity with the machines at some point in time of their lives and not because they possess requisite skill. Very soon, piano repairer in India will become extinct in India; except for a handful who would perhaps continue to do so for the passion of the piano.
